Types OF Exterior Wood Stains

We use different brands and different types of stains depending on the look you would like, the type of wood on your home and the style of house you have. In general we use Sikkens or Sherwin Williams exterior wood stains. Solid Wood stains are opaque, almost like a painted look, but the wood grain (texture still shows) 

• Semi Transparent exterior stains show more of the wood than solid stains
• Transparent stains show almost all of the wood (as the name suggest - transparent), but adds color, beauty and protection. This type of stain is commonly used on Log cabins and log sided homes in NY.
